Awaken the Chi of the Yoni!!!

Jade Eggs are STILL AVAILABLE!!!  Get yours today while you can.  For those who order in the US, Eggs come with directions and a cute little bag to keep your egg when not in use.  All of this for $35 and delivery is FREE for a limited time!  Take advantage of this opportunity to enhance your love life and add the right amount of spice while supplies lasts.

Historical Use of Jade Egg
The use of jade egg practice has evolved from ancient China to strengthen the vaginal muscles and to improve the chi for longevity and vitality.  For a time the secret practice of the jade egg remained in the Royal Palace and was only taught to the queen and concubines to please the king while making love.  Those who have mastered the technique experienced very good health, remaining young and bountiful, with sexual organs in old age as tight and resilient as those of a young, unmarried lady.  Originally, however, the jade egg exercise and vaginal weight lifting has been used to improve physical and spiritual health.

Through use of the jade stone egg, one can strengthen and control the “Love” muscle.  Use of the egg makes one aware of the movements of the muscle groups that are within the vagina to practice control or the voluntary as well as the many involuntary muscles in this area as well.

Care of Jade Egg
Feminine hygiene is of upmost importance.  Clean the vaginal canal and egg before beginning practice.  Boil the egg before first use.  To boil the egg, place the egg in water and bring the water to boiling point and remove from heat and allow the egg to cool down.  After the first use, simply washing with a gentle soap or plain water is all that is necessary due to the non-porous nature of the stone.

Due to the nature of use for the stone, it is not advised to share the jade egg, nor is it advised to use after the stone is damaged, chipped, or cracked.

Caution in Practicing the Egg Exercises
1.       1.   Relax and center yourself with some deep (ovarian) breathing.
2.       2.   Use a natural non-petroleum based lubricant if necessary.
3.        3.  If a problem arises and the egg becomes stuck, relax and do not panic.  Lie down and relax and the egg will come out.  It is suggested that beginners tie a silk cord or un-waxed dental floss to the jade egg for easier removal.

There are many exercises that can be mastered with the use of the jade egg including the basic kegel exercises.  All of which will have the added benefit of practicing with the jade egg.  Many resources are available to expound upon the various practices and exercises for cultivation.

Just in!!!  I am very pleased to announce that I have JADE EGGS in stock!!! I have a limited supply starting at $30.

According to Taoists, the use of a stone egg to strengthen the vagina is a practice which evolved in ancient China.Teachings indicate that this practice remained in the Royal Palace and was taught only to the queen and concubines. Many who mastered what is now referred to as "sexual kung fu" experienced numerous benefits including very good health, remaining young and bountiful, with sexual organs in old age as tight and resilient as those of a young, unmarried lady. Originally, however the Egg Exercise and Vaginal Weight Lifting were implemented for improving health, both physically and spiritually, since these exercises provide more power to the vaginal "Chi Muscle" or Yoni to lift the sexual energy inward and upward where it will be transformed into higher spiritual energy.
The egg is a marvelous way to strengthen and control the Yoni. It is easier to practice control of the various muscle groups with an egg in the vagina since, as the egg moves, you can feel the direction in which the muscle moves more distinctly. Controlling this voluntary muscle means control of the many involuntary muscles in this area as well. Also, as you master the use of this muscle of the vagina and perineum, you simultaneously tone up the lower abdomen.

There are many benefits to jade egg practice as it is an excellent tool for strengthening and improving the control of the yoni muscles and the flow of sexual energy and balance.  It can also enhance the quality of your orgasms and eliminate urinary incontinence. These are the perfect size for the beginner and those who are working toward becoming the advanced practitioner. Call to get yours today while supplies last 704-251-9770 herbnspice.info@gmail.com

Open Invitation to Share in a Presentation of My First African Journey: Nigeria, West Africa

Greetings Everyone:

Many of you have asked, “How was the trip to Africa?” or “Please tell me more?”
Well, I am going to give you as much as I can in an hour session.  I want to share as much as I possibly can!  Besides, something this good cannot be kept to oneself!  I would like to invite you, my brothers and sisters, to Serenity Suites this coming Sunday June, 10, 2012 at 2:00pm. I will share a portion of what I learned on my trip to Nigeria West Africa.  I will share what I experienced, discussed, learned, and much more!  I will also like to discuss the challenges and opportunities that are in Nigeria as well as my hopes.
I have decided to pull together some pictures, videos, music, and some of the items that I brought back with me from the MOTHERLAND!

I am looking forward to sharing some of Africa with you.  Maybe this will inspire YOU to go on your very own journey.  Maybe if you have gone before, you can share some of your experiences and maybe together we will inspire one another to take our next journey to the next level.

There will be tea and light refreshments.  Food and beverage contributions are appreciated.  866-944-9560 ext 703

Yes, I am an Herbalist!

One thing that I found interesting very early on my trip as I was going through immigration and customs in Nigeria.  When I handed the forms for entry, there was a section that asked about my occupation.  I put Herbalist.  When I handed the man the form at the desk, he twisted up his face and said, "YOU are an HERBALIST?"  He sounded shocked and appalled. I looked him in the eyes and smiled very happily, "Yes I am!"  "This is my very first visit and I am so excited!"

He looked at me as if I am crazy and handed me my papers and I moved on to baggage.  I later found out that in Nigeria, the term Herbalist is something to be feared and demonized.  They think of it as evil witch doctors that take lives in rituals and such.  I had to take care to spend time to educate that my purpose is to provide natural ways to health and wellness.  I send love in every direction.  God is love.

It is a trip how good things can be twisted to corrupt the origin of things.  We have to search our own hearts and research things for ourselves because when some tell lies long enough, they begin to believe it themselves.  I am glad that through interaction and conversation, people were able to see that I am quite unlike what they once perceived an "Herbalist" to be.

I'm Baaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!!!  I made it to Africa and made it back safely and returned with experiences, connections, knowledge and much to share.  I want to thank each of you that contributed to the success of my very first journey to Africa.  This is an experience that I will hold in my heart forever.  Words cannot express my appreciation for the continuous love, support, & prayers.  My journey began weeks before my departure and intensified with each step that I made toward my mission.  Even when I wondered if things were possible, I continued to move forward with much prayer and I felt the support of the Most High, our noble ancestors, my family and community.

There were no chance meetings.  All seemed to be by design.  Even before I departed from Charlotte, I sat next to a son escorting his father to visit family before he returned to Lagos the next day.  As we spoke, I realized that he truly wanted me to fully enjoy my experience in his homeland especially on my first visit.  He was so kind to make recommendations for a safe and successful trip.  Along the way, I met more wonderful people who were traveling to Nigeria, all for different reasons.  Some to return home, some to visit family for wedding, funeral, etc… There was a young lady who is an up and coming musician who is working on a project and will stay until August.  The Nigerian music industry is booming!  On the long flight, I sat next to a man stricken with polio since childhood but, he travels the world to raise awareness and money for wheelchairs for others with polio, as well as other ways ease ways of mobility for them.  I learned so much from him and am now thinking of natural and herbal solutions for prevention in high-risk regions such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, & Nigeria (P.A.I.N.).

After landing and going through immigration & customs, I reclaimed my checked bag & went outside to meet my host.  First, I was greeted by people wanting to sell me stuff or take my bags to a cab but, I was shortly greeted by a familiar face and smile and soon a small welcoming committee just for me.  I truly felt welcomed.

My first day was spent in Lagos.  I got settled, freshened up, ate some food and relaxed shortly and was taken to a house to see a man who has been sick a long time.  I did not know where I was going or who I was seeing so all of my supplies and herbs are still in my room at the hotel.  My host updated me along the way that the man has been ill for some time and has flown to India to get treatment and has spent a lot of money already but, they wanted me to see him and do a brief consult with him and his family.  When I saw him, he seemed puffy and swollen all over.  His eyes yellowed.  He appeared and acknowledged to be in pain and having difficulty moving.  He had many other challenges that I will not go into now but, his greatest challenge was that he seems to find comfort in the foods and mindset that exacerbate his condition.  We did the consult and discussed detoxing foods & herbs.  We even discussed items that would already be in their kitchen and local herbs that I had already known about.  I sent him some of my products the next day before I left the city to travel eastward.  Two or so days later, I received a call reporting that he is taking the herbs and following the instructions given and there was a noticeable improvement.  I hope that he and the family stick to lifestyle choices that will allow for the healing to continue. I have shared the information and the tools with a dose of encouragement.  The day-to-day discipline will determine the lasting outcome.

I would continue to get calls that people heard that I had been in Lagos and came by to see me even after I left days ago.   I was a day’s journey away learning more about native plants, herbs, and herbal application.  I see that the need is great and the interest is there.  What is truly impressive to me is how vast and common, the general local knowledge of plants for medicinal herbs and foods are in comparison to what I see in the US.  I was impressed at how many people readily and consistently identified various plants and recounted the uses and ways to prepare for consumption.  Another thing I noticed was that people cultivated valued plants for food and medicine at home as well as work.

My host family played a huge role in making my experience so wonderful in Nigeria.  I truly am grateful to them.  We made a genuine connection and I integrated into the family and the community relatively quickly.  I learned cultural norms, learned about their family business, marketplace negotiations, traditional values, family structure, various herbs, and foods.  They also set up most of my appointments with the exception of a few chance meetings and impromptu lessons and lectures.  It was a case of the right people, right place, right time.  God’s time.

I return to you with an Ibo name that has been given to me toward the end of my stay in Nigeria.  I am the proud bearer of the name Ogechi. Many of the names in Nigeria seem to either have a deep meaning or are namesakes  of ancestors or someone who has touched their lives in an important manner.  Either way, a name is important and is a reminder every time your name is called.  My name, Ogechi means “God’s time”.  I truly learned much in the ways of culture, local and general knowledge in regard to herbs, food and preparation methods, as well as the needs of the people on continent and the specific region that I visited.  I am also aware of the challenges as well as opportunities that are in Nigeria that struck up wonderful dialogue to bring about workable solutions.

I even had the surprise honor of meeting Chief Alex Okawkwu before my trip was over.  He is regal without even trying!  We discussed my visit, education, work, and the needs of the people.  We exchanged perspectives, concerns and opened up communication to build on solutions and opportunities.  It was truly an honor and I feel extremely humbled as I feel that the task before me is expanding and becoming greater than I had imagined.  A lot has happened in only a couple of weeks (I wish I could have stayed longer).  I experienced, I learned, shared and worked.  Everything happens in God’s time so all is well and more than sufficient.  I have only begun to scratch the surface of herbal knowledge and application in Africa in regards to health, beauty, and wellness.  My journey is a lifelong and continuously unfolding.  I must thank you again for being a part of it.

I am in the process of planning a gathering where I can share some more of my experiences with you.  Even though my focus was agricultural and herbal, I learned so much more.  There is so much to share. Stay tuned.

Patiently Waiting

I have to clear my mind and open my heart.  Patience is not easy for me.  Especially when dealing with African time!  I thought CP time was long...well I obviously need this lesson before the journey because it (the need for patience) is coming at me hard. I find myself in a position that there is nothing that I can do but, pray and wait. Prayer and meditation and great friends have been my source of calm and sanity during this time.

My anticipation has built up so much that the delay brings about a deep and emotional response rather than the cool, deep breathing, collected response that I would like to have.  I will not announce anymore dates of departure as the nothing seems to be exact in this endeavor.  It's going to happen the way it is supposed to happen. I think that I now can relate to a first-time expectant mother awaiting the birth of her child and wanting everything to be perfect.  When the ninth month arrives, even before then, the arrival is all that thought about.  All that is done is in preparation for the arrival and the responsibilities and joys that are to follow.  The anticipation comes even more intensely when it is overdue. Just as a baby enters into the world, my departure for Africa will come in its own time.  So now I must let go and be at peace. Please keep me in your prayers.  I am sure that all is working out in divine time and order. When it does happen, I will have to remember to take a picture of my bare feet touching Mama Africa's soil.

My Personal Lesson on the Journey: I have not even left yet!

Patience is a virtue best learned with an open heart and a smile.  Everything for a reason... so why bother with wasting energy with stressful thinking?  I had my fill of it on Friday when I got word that my paperwork has yet to be returned to me.  I STILL don't have my visa in hand and I want to keep my ticket good.  So I cancelled the flight to reschedule after all of my travel documents are returned.   So since things don't move at the pace at which I like, I cannot sit around a mope but for so long.  Believe me, I am very disappointed that I have been proactive as much as possible and still delays like this are happening.  I have done my part and will continue to do so.  It is a bit frustrating but, what can I do?  The rest is up to God and my ancestors.  I will not force a situation. I KNOW that I AM going and that I will have an enjoyable and life-changing experience.

It is just that to apply for the visa, an itinerary is required before-hand but, what do I do when the dates of the itinerary are not carefully noted by those who have all that I need for international travel and entry (literally) in their hands?

I have to swallow the $250 cancellation fee to change the travel schedule and this time, since the process has already begun, I wait more.  While I wait, I will take time to reflect, plan and move forward with my work.  All things work together for the good...so with each breath that I breathe, I will remain in a state of gratitude.  For me, the sun rises again, and again, and again...

Dance with me please to this tune and see the beautiful things in life and feel the joy that is in this song.

Life remains purposeful and beautiful.  More time to take care of business on this side of the water.  It is a beautiful day

UPDATE #2: I HAVE MY TICKETS AND I LEAVE ON MONDAY!!!

Greetings,

I apologize for the delay in updating you on my progress.  I have been very busy as my time is drawing near for my departure on APRIL 30, 2012!!!  Yes, I am departing on Monday!  I HAVE MY TICKETS AND TRAVEL ITINERARY!!!  It is truly a feat as I aim to balance between traveling light and being prepared for the journey.   There is so much to do to prepare for the trip itself such as laundry, packing, a small bit of shopping for essentials, and attending to as many needs of my clients and business as much as possible.

I am doing my best to leave a decent amount of inventory at Serenity Suites while away, since everything is handmade.  In addition, there is still the Herb’N Garden Collective and making sure that growth continues individually and collectively for the people as well as plants.  I know that everything is left in good and caring hands.

I cannot begin to thank you enough.  It is an honor to serve the needs of the community and you all mean so much to me.  I am carrying you in my heart and mind as I journey to Mama Africa.  I am certain that what I learn and experience will be used to enhance the work that I do.   I truly appreciate all of the continued support and donations. I am still working, saving and collecting donations to have money to carry for the journey itself.   If you have intentions to give, it is not too late.  Your contributions are appreciated.  I will be in and out of Serenity Suites from now until Sunday.  You may mail or drop off your donations at Serenity Suites, 3012 N. Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28205.  Please make checks and money orders should be made out to Kimberley Baucom.  Another quick and easy option is to click on the following paypal link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=aura_shine%40yahoo%2ecom&lc=US&item_name=Herb%27N%20Spice%2c%20LLC&currency_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donateCC_LG%2egif%3aNonHosted

Thank you so much for continued prayers for a successful & enjoyable journey and safe return.

Update: SendinLuv Africa 2012 Trip

Greetings!

Thank you so much family for all of you who have given so generously from your hearts.  I am very close to my goal and people continue to bless me.  The offerings of love, advice, support and monetary contributions have gone a loooong way in such a short time.  I am quickly approaching the costs to cover the air fare (93%) & 57% of my ultimate goal!  I am learning and growing on this journey that has begun even before I take off.  It has truly been a faith walk for me.

I am still waiting to get my visa that is required for my stay in Nigeria (my primary destination).  My passport has been sent to Maryland to get a visa by Nigerian consulate officials and now the passport has returned unstamped!!!  There seems to have been some confusion regarding the changes in Nigerian government regulations (from what I understand).  So once again I have to send the passport and documents to get the required paperwork.  I guess this is one benefit of traveling with a group rather than as an individual.  There is probably not as much hassle and runaround when you have others to take care of these matters for you.  Who knows, maybe my challenges will help others in the future who aim to travel the same path as I am traveling now.  I know that all is well and that God & my God-given purpose is greater than my challenges.  Please continue to pray for me.  I KNOW THAT PRAYER WORKS!

First, I must share about how I was blessed to be surrounded by a gathering of some phenomenal women on Sunday who shared their prayers and blessings and requests as I prepare to leave.  It was amazing!  We shared some wonderful tea, a blend of mint and Quinquilliba (an African detoxing herb that is very rich in quinine to offer protection from the mosquitos).  An herb that this potent is expected to not be as tasty as it was!  All I did was simmer the leaves for about 15 or so mins and allow to cool.  Then I added a few tablespoons of raw agave nectar (natural sweetener that is diabetic-friendly because it does not spike the blood glucose levels and has no nasty after taste), stir and serve.  It was that easy and tasty too!  We ate samplings of fresh, whole organic foods, such as hummus, kale salad, & my famous tun-no (a carrot-based salad with a taste that is better than most tuna salads).  We also had a vegan dessert prepared, cookies!

I will definitely have to do another tea and invite EVERYONE to share some of what I learned and experienced from the coming trip when I return.

For those that have asked if it is too late to give a contribution, THANK YOU!   I appreciate your offerings and contributions are still accepted either through mail or hand delivery at Serenity Suites, 3012 N. Davidison Street, Charlotte, NC 28205.

All checks or money orders should be made out to Kimberley Baucom.  Card payments are accepted as well.  You can call 866-944-9560 ext. 703 or click on the paypal link:  https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=aura_shine%40yahoo%2ecom&lc=US&item_name=Herb%27N%20Spice%2c%20LLC&currency_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donateCC_LG%2egif%3aNonHosted

FOOD: IT'S NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away."  Yeah, right.  Not if the apple is covered in a waxy coating to make it nice and shiny, genetically modified to make it huge and resistant to bruises along the journey from the orchard to the distribution/processing center to the store. And definitely not if it is covered in a multitude of pesticides.

I have posted a link to an article below regarding chemicals in our food.  This article may clue you in on some things such as, "Why, some eat 'healthy' but, are still over weight?"  Obesity is a major problem in America.  Don't just read the Nutritional Facts alone to read the sugars, sodium, fats, etc...find out where these come from.  What are the INGREDIENTS?  It is not necessarily what you are eating that is wrong but, what your food is eating or has absorbed that is the problem. if your food is out of order then your body that builds, functions, and renews itself off of the fuel that the food supplies will be out of order as well.  Organic may cost more but, it is cheaper than going to Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers and then the doctor & medical treatment facilities to have several procedures done to deal with a preventable disease or condition.

The other question that many seem to overlook to ask:  "why is it that so many drugs such as hormones and antibiotics in our food supply?"  Oh, yeah!  It is called the Food AND Drug Administration!  Many food and drug companies are owned under the same umbrella.
It is time to improve our quality of life! Waiting for someone else to do it will get you nowhere. Grow your own foods and make friends with local farmers and growers that don't use chemical pesticides.
Blindly following old diets without checking the source or line of production is potentially dangerous these days.
Pay attention and you will see and find out for yourself.  Don't just shake your head.  Do something!  After all, we are what we eat.

2012 Africa Wellness Trip Update

I want to take the time to update you on the progress of my preparation for the trip to West Africa!!!  THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR THE GENEROSITY SHOWN TO ME ON SUCH SHORT NOTICE!!!  Those who have given and continue to give will receive perks and discounts on products and services as a token of appreciation.  I THANK YOU!!!

This week, I will also have a yard sale at Serenity Suites (Saturday Morning) & lecture on Allergies, Asthma, & Skin Conditions with the Afrikan Village of Charlotte (Saturday Afternoon).  Sunday, I will host an afternoon tea with some people who are important and valuable to me as I am on my journey of life and purpose.
During the week, I am focusing on the day-to-day business of Herb'N Spice, SendinLuv & the Herb'N Garden Collective.  I will be catching up on the work that drives my business, wildcrafting, gardening, mixing and packaging herbal formulations.  Of course, I will have consultations and drop-in customers to serve.  Plus, I have my personal life.  Recently I had a death in the family, my Nana who lived a wonderful life all the way to the end.  Up until the last couple of months of her life, she came and went as she pleased, maintaining her driving priveledges and uplifting all of her family, friends, and church members.  Her spirit will always be with me and I will carry her wisdom everywhere that I go.   I am blessed to have her for the time that I had.  My family is pretty cool so I had to take a break to spend time with them.  It is my goal to lead a balanced life.  It is not always easy but, I am sure that it is always worth it.
I digress.
I will be on Africa soil soon enough and I must thank everyone who has contributed to help make my travels and learning opportunities possible. As a wellness educator, consultant, healer, herbalist, urban gardener, and entrepreneur I work daily to provide holistic wellness services, products and education to the local Charlotte area and now the global community.  I continuously work overtime to serve people by providing Herb’N Wellness Consultations by making herbal preparations, urban gardening with the Herb’N Garden Collective, wildcrafting herbs and wild foods, and exploring more of the holistic ways to further grow a healthy and sustainable community. This is such an exciting time right now as I prepare for an opportunity of a lifetime. As I travel to Nigeria and Ghana, West Africa, I am looking forward to making new connections and gaining knowledge of traditional and modern customs particularly regarding food, herbs, and various healing techniques so that I may return to share what I have learned and expand my scope of knowledge to better serve YOU.

I truly appreciate all of your love, prayers, advice, donations and support.  I cannot say how much it means to me to have the support of the community, family and friends behind me.  I know that when I travel, I am not alone.

I am requesting the support of my community in order to secure the cost of airfare and travel expenses.  So far I have reached a bit more than 15% of my goal and this is just after a short time.  Thank you to everyone who has already contributed.  I have until April 13, 2012 to reach my intended financial goal of $2000. Hopefully, I can count on you to support the endeavors to improve our collective wellness.

Africa or Bust!!!

It has been a while since my last post and I must say that things are moving at an incredible speed!  I love what I do as I have been blessed with a wonderful opportunity to work as a wellness educator, consultant, healer, herbalist, urban gardener, and entrepreneur.  I work daily to provide holistic wellness services, products and education to the local Charlotte area and now the global community.  I continuously pour in overtime to serve people by providing Herb’N Wellness Consultations, making herbal preparations, urban gardening with the Herb’N Garden Collective, wildcrafting herbs and wild foods, and exploring more of the holistic ways to further grow a healthy and sustainable community.  After 10+ years of being a practitioner, I have now been presented with a golden opportunity to travel to West Africa to learn and share.

I will travel to Nigeria & Ghana with a companion/guide that is native to the region to network, make connections and to establish import/export partnerships for global wellness.  In addition, I will be gaining knowledge of traditional and modern customs particularly regarding food, herbs, and various healing techniques so that I may return to share what I have learned and expand my scope of knowledge to better serve YOU.
Although I have the opportunity of a lifetime, I am requesting the support of my community (near and far) in order to secure the cost of airfare and travel expenses.  I have until April 13, 2012 to reach my intended financial goal of $2000. Hopefully, we at Herb'N Spice & Serenity Suites can count on you to support the endeavors to improve our collective wellness and sustainability.

Cleansing & Motivating Factors

We have officially begun our cleansing portion of our Heal Thyself journey!!!  I do believe each time we gather for the Heal Thyself Collective Circle, it gets better every time!  I know that cleansing and fasting may not be the top of your to-do list or that it may not sound appealing but, I must say that cleansing must begin in the mind.  We must cleanse our thoughts that may approach this journey from a negative or apathetic perspective.  Don’t focus so much on what you will not have or will not do but, focus on this as a clearing processes to remove blockages from your path that may stand in the way of your goals or desires.  This is time to focus on what you want MORE of and how you will now be freed up to have just that!!!  We all have our personal motivations and purposes that drive why we do what we do.  It is advantageous at this point to focus on those motivating factors.  See yourself with the goal already achieved.  See yourself at optimal health and wellness.  See yourself reaching the height of your potential.  I have my own personal motivating factors and I will share one of the latest and greatest of them all:  I am going to AFRIKA!!!  There is a lot of preparation that I must make for my personal body to be strong for the journey and to withstand a new environment.  This makes the cleansing even more relevant to what I need to do with my life and my business.
Search yourself, as we all have that prize to focus on to keep us steadfast.  Imagine our community united, strong, & healthy.  What greatness can we achieve when we reach complete wellness together? I appreciate all who have come together if not for every session but, every session that they could.  Your steadfast approach to wellness and collective healing will pay off.  It already is doing so for a number of us.  I am hearing testimonials already of reduced aches and pains.  I am seeing complexions clearing up.  I am personally seeing a change in how my clothes are fitting me.  There are some powerful things happening and we are not even half-way through the collective journey!

This week we have explored new recipes, tried out new flavors like the plummello fruit that is a relative to the grapefruit and orange.  We even tasted a new variation of raw collard green salad (delicious!).  We also discussed purchasing, storing & using herbs and spices for cleansing and healing purposes.  We discussed so much, I don’t know how to rehash it all in this letter!  Questions were asked and answered, & there were giveaways.   If you missed this week, you will not want to miss another one.  Don’t be shy if you have been away for a while, we see new faces every week.  Contact me and I will assist you so that you can catch up 866-944-9560 ext. 703.

Per request of some of the participants of this past Sunday’s session, I have provided the recipe for the Collard Green Salad that was served for tasting.

Collard Green Salad:  serves 4
½ bunch of collard greens (washed well & sliced thinly or torn into small bite-sized pieces).

It is optional to add shredded carrots, beets, turnips, or herbs like parsley, watercress, a few sprigs of cilantro…to the mix.  Be creative and go for color!  Colorful peppers will do just the trick.

Add about a tbs of minced garlic (2-3 cloves) if you choose.

Drizzle approx 1/3 cup of organic apple cider vinegar.  I do not measure usually but, I am offering rough measurements.  I am usually pretty spot-on when I do add configurations for those who need specific instructions.

Drizzle of approx ¼ cup extra virgin cold pressed olive oil as well.

Add a few tbs of raw agave nectar.  I can see maple syrup being useful in this recipe as well.

Add a tsp of nutritional yeast

A few shakes of Pink Himalayan salt

Add a level tsp of my special seasoning blend of Herb’N Spices with Spirulina, Chlorella, Kelp, parsley, dill, onion, garlic, & other spices.

Mix well & sprinkle a tsp each of chia, flax or even sunflower or pumpkin seeds.  I did an omega-3 rich combo of chia and flax for Sunday’s group.

Serve, eat up and enjoy.  It is even better if you let it sit overnight chilled.

Disclaimer: Don’t hold me to the exact measurements.  I am black and have been cooking since I was a little girl.  I don’t have to measure.  I know how food works and how it tastes.  When you open yourself up to allow your senses to explore the foods that you are to enjoy, then preparing foods will become much more easy and natural for you.

Now is the Time!!!

Greetings Heal Thyself Collective Circle family & those who are interested in cleansing and begining their self-healing journey,

Cleansing is essential for the body to rest and clear out the old to receive the new. If we want effective healing and nutrient absorption, and to jump-start the overall body system, cleansing is the initial step. Those who have been steadfast in the journey with the Heal Thyself Collective Circle, we have prepared our bodies. We know what we need. We have gathered our tools, we even discussed cost-saving measures and local resources. We even had a taste test to know that this is a do-able journey. We actually are just getting started. Please keep the momentum going and this journey. YOU CAN DO IT! I believe in you. Tap into your source and remember your purpose and motivation. I have my own personal motivation that has given me new strength and reasons why this part of the journey is important to me as well. I will share the good news with you on Sunday. It is HUGE!!!

Ok. No more procrastination or excuses! It is time to step forward Collectively and begin the fasting and cleansing portion of this journey. Come Sunday prepared to work! I will have some giveaways and we will open ourselves to true healing and actively prepare a few tonics, juice and more. We will be at Serenity Suites AT Noda 2pm-4pm. I look forward to seeing you there! 866-944-9560 ext. 703

Introducing The Herb'N Garden Collective

You are personally invited to become a member of the Herb’N Garden Collective where, “Together We Grow!!!”  Our aim as the Collective is to support growers in every environment by providing mentorship, education, consultations, seed & plant trading.  In addition it is important to explore the art and science of pickling, canning, drying, seed saving/storage, composting, & various propagation methods.  Food and gas prices are consistently rising.  Each day we find more about our food supply that negatively impacts our health and wellbeing.  Food security and our health is becoming a growing concern in our communities and households.  It is time that we become proactive in this experience that we call life.   Together we are planting seeds for our sustainable future!
Even though it is still winter, it will soon be spring and we should be enjoying fresh produce that we have grown by then.  Now is the time.  Membership dues are $20 month or $10 to sit-in each session.  If you have any questions or need more details please contact Aura Agape 866-944-9560 ext# 703.  There is much to share that I hope will be of inspiration.  I hope to see you then.

Heal Thyself Collect Circle gets a break this Sunday due to the Superbowl

What can I say?  Not being an avid football fan, I have been out of touch with the football schedule or the importance of such events, even if they take place in the evening.

After much consideration, since it is Super Bowl Sunday, I have decided to cancel this Sunday's gathering.  We will resume the following Sunday, 2/11/12 at 2pm-4pm. Originally, this was supposed to be the beginning of our cleansing/fasting process.  We should already have begun increasing our raw fruits, and vegetable consumption, along with whole grains, herbal tonics & especially water.  Also we have discussed other cleansing methods such as the Kidney Liver Flush (recipe available in Heal Thyself), various juicing combinations, baths, enemas, saunas, deep breathing exercises, etc...This is the time to dust off raw food cookbooks or search the net.  There is a wealth of information available.  I am still extending the offers from last week including shopping and food preparation assistance.  The support and the journey continues even during Super Bowl.  I hope that you enjoy the festivities without succumbing to the temptations to pollute your body.  There are always going to be a challenges and special occasions that will make the journey difficult.  I suggest that you prepare healthful, hearty and tasteful dishes that all can enjoy and the reward is for those who are steadfast in their purpose.

I will share my recipe of avocado dip that I alternate between using tomatoes or mangos.

2 avocados
1 tomato or small mango
1/2  sm red onion or 2 stalks of green onion
1/2 tsp minced garlic
organic apple cider vinegar
extra virgin olive oil
Pink Himalayan Crystal Salt
dill weed
parsley

Cut avocados in half and remove seed.  I slice the avocados cross-ways and scoop out the avocado which makes cubes.  I peel and cut the mango on both side of the large flat seed and slice crossways and add to the bowl of avocado.  Dice up 1/2 small red onion or chop up green spring onion.  Add approx 1/2 tsp of minced garlic or 1-2 cloves finely chopped.  This is the part where I really do not measure.  I add a splash or 2 (according to taste) of organic apple cider vinegar and about 2 tbs of olive oil.  Then I add the dill weed, parsley, and pink himalayan crystal salt to taste.  Mix and enjoy.  This goes well with raw veggies (carrot sticks, celery, broccoli florets, etc...) whole grain tortilla chips or pita wedges.

Additionally, Juliette Chambers has offered her delicious Kale Salad recipe
1 bunch of Kale washed thoroughly and chopped thin
1-2 grated carrots grated
1 medium beet grated
2-3 radishes grated
2-3 sprigs of cilantro chopped
add apple cider vinegar, olive oil, seasonings such as Herb'N Spice (original blend), pink himalayan crystal salt, or spike's.  Mix and enjoy.  This is a dish that actually gets better as it sets for a while.

Please enjoy a safe and healthy weekend.  Call me for assistance or scheduling appointments             866-944-9560       ext# 703.
